Overall Responsibilities
We are recruiting both trainee and experienced support workers to join our team to work with young people within our Semi-Independent Living Accommodations. Our ideal candidate would be a reliable person who wants to make a difference in young people’s lives by providing quality support and care. You must have the ability to communicate clearly both within your verbal and written communication.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Providing a high quality, personalised support to Young people
- Supporting our Young People to maximise their independence and move forward with their lives
- Motivate, empower and offer day-to-day emotional and practical support to young people so that they gain independence and reach their full potential
- Creating support plans and help Young People achieve their goals and independence
- Helping Young People to get organised, plan their day, clean, meal-plan and shop
- Helping Young People who may have communication difficulties by making information accessible, and supporting them to express themselves and make choices
- Supporting Young People to achieve their short and long terms goals, which could be anything from cooking a meal or doing washing up, to attending college or university or going on day trips and holidays
- Helping Young People meet friends and stay in touch with loved ones.
- Being on hand to guide and advise, listen and understand, build confidence and self-esteem. Keeping the Young People we support safe at home and in the community.
- Supporting the Young People with day to day money management and financial support. Supporting Young People to maintain their own tenancies in our supportedliving services.
- Supporting our Young People to access the community and take part in activities such as swimming, dance class, cinema, theatre trips and football.
- Supporting Young People to work with health professionals to support any medical needs, including making and attending any necessary appointment
- Health and Safety duties such as home inspections, fire checks, reporting of defects and damages
Experience
- At least 1 years’ experience of working with children/adolescents/young people or a similar support worker/care worker role.
Qualifications
- Have or be willing to work towards completing QCF /NVQ Level 3 award in Health & Social Care (Children) within the set time frame.
- Consideration will also be given to those that are educated to A-Level.
